Winter Baby Blues & Pinks at The Savile Club

Real Wedding: Lauren & Josh

Every now and again, you get an enquiry that makes you squeal with delight. I rarely do on the day stationery as a standalone commission (I prefer to work with couples from invitations through to on the day to ensure the stationery has a fluid and continuous feel). However, Lauren & Josh’s exquisite colour palette and gorgeous design ideas made it impossible to turn down. Lauren works in fashion for a contemporary jewellery brand, so I knew hers & Josh’s wedding was going to be both incredibly stylish and very special from that first email!

The Brief

Who says a winter wedding has to be filled with red & green? Working with Pink Palms event styling, Lauren & Josh decided to bring winter sophistication aplenty to their wedding: pairing cool, pretty pale blues and blush pinks with black, silver and gold.

The Stationery

Ink & Paper were asked to create a welcome sign, table plan, table names, menus and place cards in one, and a couple of small signs: one for cards and gifts, and the other in memory of absent loved ones. We paired playful modern brush lettered calligraphy with chic and minimal typography.

For the signage we used the most incredible iridescent acrylic, which shimmered in shades of pink and blue, perfectly encapsulating the magic of the wedding colour palette. We mixed metallics, adding pops of both gold and silver throughout the stationery (a trend which I am loving and hope to see more of!).

And for the menus, we decided to pair silver hot foiled menus with chic gold modern calligraphy for the guest names, pressed on punchy black circles to add depth to an otherwise very white and light room.

The Venue

The Savile Club in Mayfair is one of the most distinguished wedding reception venues in London, with its elegant sprung ballroom and adjacent dining room. Choosing to focus their wedding on the incredible imperial staircase and ballroom with its delicately painted vaulted ceiling, reminiscent of Louis XVI style, Lauren & Josh’s colour scheme perfectly complemented these exquisite venue features.

While in the summer months the Ballroom streams with light, for a winter wedding the Pink Palms team brought the sparkle through row upon row of candles adorning the tables. We brought gravitas to the table styling with black and silver menus, and the signage presented as an ethereal shimmer throughout.

The Details

Lauren wore two dresses, the first, a stunning fishtail number from Australian Bridal brand, Made With Love Bridal, and then a second (rented!) evening party dress from achingly cool fellow Aussie brand, Christie Nicole. Just look at those sleeves! Her makeup was by the talented team at Portraits Bridal and was nude glamour with effortless Hollywood waves in her hair . They tied the knot in a gorgeous ceremony at Old Marylebone Town Hall, before escorting the wedding party across to the Savile Club.

Guests were greeted with a welcome sign and order of the day upon arrival at The Savile Club, and speeches took place on the stunning imperial staircase, adorned with a veritable meadow of flowers from London-based floral design studio, Blume. Winding their way up the exquisite staircase, guests found their table on the half-landing, before being whisked up the final flight to the spectacle of the grand ballroom. Food, drink and merriment followed, before partying into the early hours in the bar.
